CURRENT POSITIONS

1. GaN Epitaxy Engineer

EpiGaN nv (Hasselt, Belgium), a business unit of SOITEC, offers industry-leading GaN-on-Si and GaN-on-SiC material solutions, enabling the next generation of Efficient Power Electronic, RF Power and Sensor devices and systems, with today a strong focus on 5G telecom devices. The III-Nitride epiwafers are deposited by MOCVD in its clean-room facility operated in Hasselt.

The Position:
In order to support EpiGaN’s expanding MOCVD capacity, you will be in charge of performing day-to-day operation of epitaxy systems.  Based in our Hasselt facility, you will support the development of materials and substrates with your technical expertise in MOCVD material growth and you will suggest new solutions in your technical area.

Your Missions:

Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer (COO), you will
  • Fulfill and contribute to the continuous improvement of related safety and security regulations and operating procedures, with a strong focus on optimising production yield;
  • Be strongly involved in the technology transfer from the R&D technology platform to the production platform,
  • Develop new epi recipes,
  • Be involved in the characterization of GaN HEMT epi-layers, and in the analysis of the measurement results and of GaN epi wafer trend charts,
  • Identify and solve complex GaN MOCVD- related problems,
  • Strongly contribute to the continuous improvement of the epiwafer performance and of the overall MOCVD production yield.


Your Profile:
With a PhD in semiconductor physics or in engineering with a focus on material science, you have an experience of minimum 5 years in MOCVD growth of III-nitrides and you are familiar with epitaxial growth of III-N on Si and planetary reactor technology. Your strong knowledge in material characterisation techniques and in device physics will help you perform, as well as your good knowledge of microelectronics.

  • Good working knowledge of the English language
  • Open minded and a good team player, with strong communication skills
  • A good ability to analyze, document, report, and resolve difficult problems in a complex environment.
  • Well organized, innovative, ethical and able to work independently.

2. Process Operator

EpiGaN is a start-up active in the semiconductor industry, which focus on delivering material for next-generation RF and power electronics components. Very thin semiconductor layers (a few microns) are deposited by a chemical process onto Silicium substrates. These epitaxial layers form the starting point of the new electronic components.
  
Job description
As process operator, you work in our production line and are responsible for the implementation of one or more production and/or analysis steps. Process and characterization equipment are computer-controlled, though a few manual steps are still required at the beginning and at the end of the process. Accuracy and quality are key in this high-tech environment.
You are also involved in the proper functioning of the production line, you control different parameters and take appropriate actions whenever deviations may occur (tool maintenance, change of gas bottles etc.). You work in a clean room environment and wear suitable clean-room clothes. You may also be working with chemical products. You strictly follow the security and environmental regulations and if necessary, you wear adequate protective clothes.
During the training, you work exclusively during the day, but after the training is completed, a shift system will be started gradually, first early and late and then continuously.

Key Requirements:  
Correct understanding of instructions and schemas

•           Follow procedures correctly
Checking and distributing raw materials:
•           Correct reading of the chemical description: selection of appropriate chemicals accordingly
•           Connect gas bottles correctly and follow chemical procedures
•           Correct selection of silicium substrates
Tools to be correctly started, stopped and maintained
•           Know the different parts of the tools: terminology and operation
•           Change, clean and maintain some parts of the production tools
•           Define process parameters correctly for different production process
•           Properly report the operations
•           Use computers and keyboards in production environment
Support in small technical problem solving

Key skills:
Working safely: avoiding dangerous situations and risks, both for themselves and for other employees
Being able to work independently: you can organize your work independently according to the given priorities
“Handy” at work: during the process, several manual steps require the handling of fragile semiconductor material
Work accurately: carefully complete tasks and strictly comply with agreements, rules and procedures
Quality minded: all products undergo a quality process control after production, inspecting in particular for defects and product specification deviations. Each step in the process can introduce product deviation if not performed correctly.

Required Education:
Preferably a professional bachelor's degree and at least a third-level diploma in secondary education and
Experience of working in a clean-room environment, preferably in semiconductor technology is mandatory.
English fluency and understanding is a must, given the international character of EpiGaN

3. Database programmer
 
EpiGaN nv (Hasselt, Belgium), a business unit of SOITEC, offers industry-leading GaN-on-Si and GaN-on-SiC material solutions, enabling the next generation of Efficient Power Electronic, RF Power and Sensor devices and systems, with today a strong focus on 5G telecom devices. The III-Nitride epiwafers are deposited by MOCVD in its clean-room facility operated in Hasselt. The production is quality controlled through a wafer tracking system built on top of an SQL database.
 
The Position:
In order to support EpiGaN’s expanding operations, you will support the implementation and expansion of the data management system. This involves managing the database system, creating interfaces to add new tools to the system and creating user interfaces to access, analyse and visualise the data. You will also help the development of custom metrology in terms of hard- and software.
 
Your Mission:
You will

  • Manage the SQL database, keep it up to date and extend it where needed. Follow-up on database integrity and back-ups
  • Create interfaces to upload data from different metrology tools into the database.
  • Create interfaces to interlink various database systems
  • Implement user interfaces to access data from the database, to analyse and visualise it.
  • Support the development of custom metrology tools in terms of hard- and software


Your Profile:
With a degree in programming or engineering, you have hands-on experience with C/C++ and Python, PHP, TCP/IP networking as well as with implementing SQL based databases. Knowledge of Igor Pro, R or JMP is a plus.

4. Quality Manager

The Position:
In order to support the company in its continuous quality improvement program, EpiGaN is looking for a seasoned, skilled and motivated quality manager, with strong experience in the semiconductor manufacturing industry and quality, and preferably with a strong background in semiconductor growth and/or semiconductor material analysis.

Your missions:
You will 

  • Be responsible of Quality Management System (QMS) in EpiGaN
  • Maintain, enforce and continuously improve the quality procedures according to ISO9001:2015
  • Contribute to the definition, optimization, control and continuous improvement of the production flow and related manufacturing processes
  • Follow-up and continuously improve product acceptance/rejection criteria, as well as the related measurement process
  • Determine, assess and control wafer qualification according to customer’s product specifications
  • Use and continuously upgrade SPC control for enhancing quality and yield, as well as 8D problem solving method
  • Perform/support internal and customer audits
  • Assist customer service related to quality of delivered products
  • Interact with third parties (internal/external) to supervise quality requirements in the full value chain for EpiGaN products
  • Contribute to the continuous wafer quality improvement, improve quality and reliability of new product development processes and contribute to the qualification of new products, resulting from R&D.
  • You will be reporting directly to the COO.

Your Profile:

  • Master’s or PhD degree in physics, chemistry, material science or electrical engineering (electronics)
  • More than 5 years working experience in the semiconductor industry
  • Strong experience in Quality processes: SPC control, 8D reporting, FMEA, customer audits…
  • Experience with ISO9001:2015 standards is a strong asset
  • Background in either material growth (MOCVD), material characterization techniques (X-Ray, PL, SIMS, TEM…) is an asset
  • Excellent documentation and reporting skills
  • Good communication skills
  • Proven ability to work independently, while maintaining open communication
  • A systematic attitude, an open mind and strong team player
  • A good working knowledge of the English language
